Mentoring for the Future (MFF) is a mentoring program organized by graduate students and faculty across the School of Global Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (SGLLC) at Penn State
The primary goal of the MFF program is to raise awareness and introduce undergraduate students with limited exposure to academic pathways to graduate studies. The program is open to students who have not acquired enough information about or may not have considered graduate studies for a variety of social, economic, or cultural circumstances, and who might want to learn more.
The MFF program is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to participate in a free online workshop series in which students will:
- participate in a two-day Zoom workshop series on May 14th and 15th
- learn about the larger fields of linguistics, literature, and cultures
- explore career paths and identify potential graduate programs
- learn about institutional support and funding
- prepare competitive applications for graduate school (including CVs and Statements of Purpose)
- engage in long-term mentorships with faculty and graduate students at Penn State
The MMF program was helpful. It helped me demystify graduate school applications, especially for PhD programs which frightened me a bit.
I really appreciate everything the MFF program did for me, and I can’t thank you all enough!
