Elena provides academic and administrative leadership for the Summer Language Institute at Penn State. She is also the Outreach coordinator for the School of Global Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, supporting partnerships with other BTAA (Big Ten Academic Alliance) institutions and helping SGLLC undergraduate students utilize resources and opportunities for experiential learning such as internships, volunteering, and mentorship.
Elena coordinates the Big Ten Academic Alliance CourseShare program, which allows students to take courses in less commonly taught languages across the BTAA network.
Her research interests focus on the intercultural aspects of language education and on international and global citizenship education.
