Summer 2025 Class Instruction Modes
Courses for the 2025 Language Institute are being offered through a variety of learning modalities including in-person classes; virtual, synchronous classes via Zoom (RS); and online, asynchronous classes (RA).
Please check the courses, descriptions, and modalities using the Penn State Class Search in order to access the most up-to-date information. Please be sure to enter the appropriate term (Summer), campus (University Park), and subject (i.e., ARAB, CHNS, SPAN) as your ONLY search criteria.
Please check the Penn State Class Search page the day before your class begins to verify class times and modalities.
Enrollment Information
In some languages (e.g., German, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish), we list course numbers 1/2/3 (4 credits) and course numbers 51/52/53 (3 credits). These course numbers refer to the same course with undergraduate and graduate students together (for example, FR 1/51). Please adhere to the following guidelines when enrolling in these courses:
- Penn State undergraduate students should register for 1/2/3 course numbers.
- Penn State graduate students should register for 51/52/53 courses.
- The Language Institute course sections are all at the 700-level (i.e., 701, 702, etc.)
