Instructions for Students

  • The Hindi noncredit proficiency exam will be offered in person.
  • There are no exams offered during the summer.
  • Complete the Registration Form (see link above).  Students should first read the Exam Application Instructions (also at the bottom of the Asian Studies Proficiency Exam website page).
  • Access the Converge website link to make exam payment–this is a one-time fee (please see “B” above).
  • Please mark the date which you plan on taking the exam in the upper right hand corner of your registration form (dates are below and are also listed on the Penn State Asian Studies Proficiency Exam website.
  • Please note if you are a graduating senior under your exam date (upper right corner of form).
  • Send payment receipt and registration form to Mary Price (please see “C” above).
  • Please refer registration questions to Mary Price.  Please refer questions about the exam itself to the examiner, Ritu Jayakar.

Exam cannot be processed without the registration form.

After grading the exam, the examiner will forward the registration/results form to the SGLLC administrative offices for processing.  Please allow 7 to 10 days for processing.  When the form has been approved, it will be sent to your major advisor; only your MAJOR ADVISOR or College Records Management team can update your audit to reflect completion of your language requirement.
